The Screaming Meme.

Rachel, from The Girl With the White Parasol Blogspot  has come up with a wonderful blog idea called: New Years "meme" 12 questions, including a New Years resolution.

1. What is your all-time favorite Grace Kelly costume?

The blue gown from the film, To Catch a Thief (1955).

2. What classic film would you nominate for a remake? Not really a remake, but I would love to see, Gone With the Wind part II. Being a hopeless romantic I would love to know.. if Rhett and Scarlett, live happily ever after..

3. Name your favorite femme fatale. That would be Gene Tierney.

4. Name the best movie with the word "heaven" in its title. Leave Her To Heaven (1945).

5. Describe the worst performance by a child actor that you’ve ever seen (since Laura gave me the idea).

Alfalfa from The Little Rascals

6. Who gets your vote for most tragic movie monster?

King Kong

7. What is the one Western that you would recommend to anybody? Tombstone (1993). For me.. this is a movie about friendship.

8. Who is your ideal movie-viewing partner? My best friend/husband and my little puppy. :)

9. Has a film ever made you want to change your life? If so, what was the film? I don't know if the film changed my life, but the realationship between Don's mother Mrs. Baker and Jill, sure left an impression on me: Butterflies Are Free(1972), with Goldie Hawn.

10. Think of one performer that you truly love. Now think of one scene/movie/performance of theirs that is too uncomfortable for you to watch. The first actor that comes to mind is, Vincent Price, who plays the role of a spineless womanizer, in the film, Laura(1944).

11. On the flip side, think of one really good scene/performance/movie from a performer that you truly loathe. I dunno.. if I loathe any actor, but, I'm not a huge fan of James Cagney, but I loved him in the film, White Heat(1949).

12. And finally, since it will be New Year's soon, do you have any movie or blogging-related resolutions for 2012? Not really, I'm kind of a spur of the moment girl and like to blog about what catches my interest.. Happy New Year Everyone!

  2. Interesting answers to the meme Dawn.
I'm particularly intrigued by number 5.
I might have to watch The Little Rascals just to see how bad Alfalfa really is!

  3. Irene, I have always thougt of Vincet Price, as a gentleman. So, it was very hard for me to watch him being a cad.

Paul, I hope you come back and let me know what you think of Alfalfa.

I would love to read both of your answers to The Screaming Meme list.

  4. I had a quick think and here they are.

    1. I’ll echo you Dawn and choose Grace’s blue gown from To Catch A Thief
    2. The Big Sleep if it was faithful to the novel. Although I can’t think of any current actors of the calibre to carry it off.
    3. Michelle Pfeiffer’s JoAnn Valenari from Tequila Sunrise
    4. The original Heaven Can Wait.
    5. I’m too soft hearted to put the boot into any child actor.
    6. I can’t look any further than King Kong.
    7. That is a very tough one. If pushed I’ll say Dances With Wolves.
    8. My Mother, because she’ll watch anything without complaint.
    9. No, although there have been many occasions I’ve wanted to jump through the screen to be a part of a film.
    10. I find Meg Ryan’s amazing transformation in the film In The Cut far too raw to watch again.
    11. I’ve never really taken to Leo DiCaprio but I thought he was great in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?
    12. My main resolution is to sort out the problems with my Blogger account.

  5. I don't want to answer all 12, but I would like to say I love your heart scroll/arrow thingy--too cute! I agree with King Kong as the most tragic movie monster. And, The Hours made me want to change my life--it was life altering for me. My resolution is the same as always: write more and read my pals blogs more often!

  6. Oh, Dawn, these were fun to read!! Thanks so much for sharing.

That's great that your husband is your best friend and that he watches movies with you. My husband makes an attempt to watch them, but unfortunately, he usually reclines in the recliner while watching...and you know what happens when you lie down! Of course, if it's a Ginger Rogers movie, he makes it a point NOT to recline!

I will have to think about the answers to these questions myself. Some of them are quite thought-provoking.

  7. I like to think Scarlett wins Rhett back some time in the future, once she's put away her childish notions, figured out who she really is and what she truly values.

    It's the romantic in me.

By the way, I've seen Gone With The Wind in a theater of one sort or another eight times. Eight! That's like 32 hours worth. Still a personal record.

  8. Paul S, #9. I also have wanted to jump through the screen to be a part of a film a couple of times. Like in The film, Blue Hawaii.

I have never seen the movie, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? I will add it to my list of "gotta see" films.

KimWilson, thank you .. I love the little heart pointer two.. Please check out my other blog pages to view the other pointers I found.. One of them even changes color..

I have not seen the movie, The Hours.. But, it sounds like a "must see".

I love your New Years resolution... please add me to your list :)

Patti, my husband falls asleep sometimes too, but, I still enjoy him being there. :)

I can not wait to read your list..

Mythical Monkey, I love your ending to the film, Gone With The Wind.. I would also, love to see the film Gone With The Wind eight times in the theater. You are one lucky Monkey.

I watched Gone With the Wind at home, for the millionth time yesterday.. It is one of those movies I will never get tired of.
