Day Three Final Results 50'S ERA

Here are the results for the first round of half of the categories in the 50's era.

DRAMA QUEENS
Susan Hayward is quite happy about her first round win over Jennifer Jones

ELIZABETH TAYLOR def SHELLEY WINTERS 62-22
ANNE BAXTER def ELEANOR PARKER 42-35
SUSAN HAYWARD def JENNIFER JONES 55-25
AVA GARDNER def GLORIA GRAHAME 52-30

SOPHISTICATES
Deborah Kerr quietly went about her business of taking down Kim Novak

GRACE KELLY def RHONDA FLEMING 64-20
SOPHIA LOREN def ANNE FRANCIS 49-32
AUDREY HEPBURN def DOROTHY MALONE 57-24
DEBORAH KERR def KIM NOVAK 53-35

Seven of the eight matches were blow-outs. The one close match was between Anne Baxter and Eleanor Parker as Baxter rallied from down as many as 13 points to overtake Parker and pull off the comeback victory. Congrats to all the talented women of this era as well. And good luck to the eight that move on to round 2 next week.

Tomorrow begins first round action of the other two categories...Funny Ladies/Girls Next Door and Singers/Dancers. Those matches will run through Saturday night. I will also post the results from the 30's and 40's eras tomorrow as well.

  1. I don't think any of the results were a surprise although I did vote for Anne Francis and Eleanor Parker.

The Sophisticates bracket is going to be a barn burner, I think, with Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Deborah Kerr all going at it. Heavyweights, all.

  2. AVA GARDNER def GLORIA GRAHAME

This was a tuff one for me, but I'm glad that Ava won..

  3. I'm with Mythical Monkey on Anne Francis and Eleanor Parker. So sad they're both out already. Also, Lana and Ida are both out already...insert sad face here! At least my #1 gal Bette had a resounding victory!
