This is the first article on Bette Davis, in my 6 part movie bio. through out the month of March. My biggest bio ever.. :)

Bette Davis (April 5, 1908 – October 6, 1989). After Betty moved to New York with her mother and sister, she decided to become an actress after watching a Rudolph Valentino performance in, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (1921) and Mary Pickford in, Little Lord Fauntleroy (1921).

In 1926, after she saw a production of, The Wild Duck. Davis said, "Before that performance I wanted to be an actress. When it ended, I had to be an actress... exactly like Peg Entwistle". Soon after, she was accepted by the John Murray Anderson School of Theatre and studied dance.

She auditioned for George Cukor's stock theater company, he gave Davis her first paid acting part as a chorus girl in the play, Broadway. She landed the part she had seen Entwistle play, in The Wild Duck. She made her Broadway debut in 1929 in, Broken Dishes and the play, Solid South. A Universal Studios talent scout saw her performance and invited her to Hollywood for a screen test. To be continued...
