The Roaring Twenties(1939).

My favorite Priscilla Lane movie is, The Roaring Twenties(1939). Crime thriller. Cast: James Cagney, Priscilla Lane, Humphrey Bogart and Gladys George. Director: Raoul Walsh, and written by Jerry Wald, Richard Macaulay and Robert Rossen based on the story "The World Moves On" by Mark Hellinger. The Roaring Twenties was the last film that Cagney and Bogart made together.

  1. A great film, Cagney would not play another "Gangster" till 1949's White Heat, also for Raoul Walsh.

  2. As I stated in another post, The Roaring Twenties is my favorite movie with Priscilla Lane. When she sings she is just a doll. And of course, Cagney is magnificent. The scene where he is down and out, but goes to take care of Humphrey Bogart to protect Priscilla is a great one. Bogart is such a snivelling coward, so different from his later persona, and Cagney is merciless. Love that movie!

  3. Paul, Love the "gangster films".. White Heat, is one of my favorite Gagney, films.

Bec, I agree Priscilla Lane, has a a wonderful voice. I do wish.. she had a bigger part in the film. This definitely was a Cagney film. It seems Humphrey Bogart, could play any part given to him.
