Silent Film Star: Dorothy Gish.



Childhood friend, actress Mary Pickford, introduced the two Gish sisters to director D.W. Griffith. Their first movie was An Unseen Enemy. Dorothy would go on to star in over 100 films and features over the years. She would perform in Judith of Bethulia (1914). She and her sister Lillian made a number of films together, including Hearts of the World (1918) and Orphans of the Storm (1921). In both films Dorothy would play French girls, but in different periods of time. Lillian directed a movie called Remodeling Her Husband (1920), which starred Dorothy. After that Dorothy would only make a couple of movies, Romola (1924) a costume picture about Italy in the Middle Ages, where she would again co-star with Lillian. By (1926) Dorothy had moved to England, where she would star as the title role in Nell Gwynne (1926). Her last silent film Madame Pompadour (1927). In (1928) Dorothy retired, except for a few occasional roles.

  1. Lillian Gish married Harry Potter but Dorothy Gish got mad so Harry divorced Lillian and married Dorothy secretly. Ginny Weasly still doesn't know!
