This week on N and CF.


This weeks (Updated Dec. 3, 2010). Chick Flicks at the Movies. A Christmas Carol (pictured above), is a 1910 silent film directed by J. Searle Dawley for Edison. It runs 10 minutes and is one of the earliest film adaptations of Charles Dickens' famous 1843 novella. It featured Marc McDermott as Ebenezer Scrooge and Charles S. Ogle as Bob Cratchit. Sorry last weeks movie pick, "Three Came Home(1950)", did not work out for some reason. TCM is featuring the movie on Dec.7, 2010.

ON TCM Dec. 7, 2010. Pushover (1954). Film noir best known for being the first film to feature Kim Novak in a starring role. The Columbia Pictures picture also stars Fred MacMurray as a good cop gone bad. It was adapted from two novels, The Night Watch by Thomas Walsh and Rafferty by William S. Ballinger.

ON TCM: Dec.10, 2010. The Man Who Came to Dinner(1942). Comedy directed by William Keighley. The screenplay by Julius and Philip G. Epstein is based on the 1939 play of the same title by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. One of the movies from my Christmas list of favorite films.

TCM Special Event: December 11, 2010. Liza and family. Click picture on side bar to view featured films. Liza Minnelli joins Robert Osborne for two nights in December (12/11 & 12/14) to discuss her amazing career and the work of her father Vincente Minnelli and mother Judy Garland in an all new edition of TCM's Private Screenings interview series.
