This Week on Noir and Chick Flicks




This week on Chick Flicks at the Movies: He Walked by Night (1948).
Gripping film noir crime drama about a manhunt for a ruthless killer who plays a deadly cat and mouse game with the police. Starring Richard Basehart, Scott Brady, Whit Bissell, and Jack Webb, this movie was the basis for "Dragnet". Watch for Whit Bissell, the unsung but solid bit player who has appeared in hundreds of films and TV shows.


ON TCM: Monday, May 17th. They Met in Argentia (1941).A Texas oil millionaire, after failing to secure oil lands in Argentina, seeks out a famous race horse in Buenos Aires and order his representative to buy the nag at any price. Ellison has a love affair with Maureen O'Hara, the beautiful daughter of the prize horse's owner.


ON TCM : Friday, May 21st. Private Lives (1931).Private Lives is a 1931. American comedy film directed by Sidney Franklin. The screenplay by Hanns Kräly and Richard Schayer is based on the 1930 play of the same title by Noël Coward. Cast: Norma Shearer(pictured above).
