This Week on Noir and Chick Flicks:


This Weeks Chick Flicks at the Movies Spotlight is: McLintock! is a 1963 comedy Western starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, and loosely based on Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. The film is famous (or infamous) for its two spanking scenes, in which mother and daughter are each paddled with coal shovels: the daughter by her suitor, the mother by her estranged husband. Primrose Path (1940). The youngest child in a family of prostitutes tries to go straight with a working man. Cast: Ginger Rogers, Joel McCrea, Marjorie Rambeau. Dir: Gregory La Cava.


Lucky Partners (1940). Two strangers who share a sweepstakes ticket take it on the lam. Cast: Ronald Colman, Ginger Rogers, Jack Carson. Dir: Lewis Milestone.
